How do you feel as you’re getting ready to start your day in your bathroom?

Does it feel old and out of style?

What do you think is the number one reason that homeowners remodel? Not surprisingly, its that they’ve always wanted to but finally decided it was time (2019 Houzz and Home Report). Is it time to update yours?

Bathrooms are what HOMEfix does best…

“We looked at several options when we finally decided to remodel our master bathroom. After receiving bids from 5 other firms, we sat and discussed the proposal with each bidder. We were comfortable with HOMEfix from the beginning. Their attention to detail, ability to design/build during the job, and the quality of their work was second to none. We used them not only for our master bath project, but also to upgrade or guest bathroom and replace the floor in our laundry room as well. We highly recommend HOMEfix for any home remodeling project.” – Jon and Ann Staub

“HOMEFix did an incredible job updating my home, The major components of which were a full master bath remodel and a stacked stone fireplace. The quality of the job is outstanding. Every individual who came into my house was friendly and professional. In fact, they left the house neater and cleaner then they found it. They have been extremely responsive to each follow up call and request I had. The icing on the cake is that people come to my house and comment “It feels like a spa resort.” I couldn’t be happier.” – Cynthia

Some folks just want to go with the cheapest estimate for their remodel. But what they don’t know is that they almost always end up paying more in change orders, repairs from low quality materials or shoddy craftsmanship, not to mention the brain damage that comes from a discount contractor who doesn’t follow through on their word, listen, communicate, or even care about them or their project.

We believe that you deserve better than that… much better. As a company and as a team, we exist not just to make money but to improve homes and change lives. We live that out by striving to consistently deliver simplicity, speed, and quality. More specifically, experienced craftsmanship, quality materials, and an overall customer experience that exceeds your expectations.

We take great pride in the standard of our work. We know that we’ll be in your house for 4-6 weeks but you’ll be in your house for years. So we make sure that we get everything as close to perfection as we possibly can. When the craftsmen working in your home are wearing a royal blue HOMEfix shirt, the end result will be a finished product that is built to the highest standards. Here are some examples of those high standards for every project that we do:

  • Install zipper doors(2 per door)
  • Cover floors in work areas (rosin paper, ram board, carpet shield)
  • Cover registers and air return with rags (to protect HVAC system from dust)
  • Mask any additional areas as needed
  • Demo…
    1. Double check everything before throwing it away
    2. Shut off water when cutting drywall
    3. Carefully cut drywall up next to tile (pull bullnose?)
    4. Bend over ALL nails
    5. Put all trash in the dumpster (EVERY DAY)
  • Framing
    1. Always frame 16” on center
    2. Trim and king for every door
    3. Pressure treated bottom plate when in contact with concrete
    4. Plywood/OSB window sills before drywall (4 way wrap)
  • Contact/update customer every day
  • Material onsite, in the shop, or ETA verified
  • Jamb closets unless otherwise specified
  • Paint wood black behind high/low vents (so you can’t see the wood through the vent)
  • Scope of work for every trade in binder

We don’t take shortcuts, even though it may seem like they do. Here’s what we mean, it may take our guys a day to pour a beautiful new mud shower pan, but it took years to learn how to pour a beautiful new mud shower pan in a day./

We don’t do things the easy way. It’s a little more expensive, but in construction, there’s only one right way to do things. Having these high standards pays off through beautiful, durable remodels that make for happy customers that keep using us for every project they have from year to year and even house to house. If you haven’t already, search “homefix” and read some of our reviews.

To put it simply, HOMEfix is a cut above other remodeling contractors in Colorado Springs (contractor pun intended).

If you choose to trust HOMEfix with your home, you can rest easy knowing that you’ve enlisted the help of master craftsmen. Also, we do everything we can to minimize the amount of work done by subcontractors. The same can’t be said of discount contractors in Colorado Springs. A discount contractor will often subcontract the majority of the work to the cheapest crew they can find and not ask questions.

Your house is only as good as its materials. Of course it is. Water is a constant in the bathroom, therefore it’s really, really important to use quality materials. Not to be hyperbolic, but trying to go cheap on materials in your bathroom could end to catastrophe. Not only will quality materials ensure that your updated bathroom stands up to the test of time, but also that you can achieve the look and feel you want. From natural countertops to wood lookalike porcelain tile and every look in between, we have access to the quality materials you need.

A discount contractor will have no problem installing cheap materials from an orange big box home improvement store because they’re cheaper for them. Nothing against orange stores, but they simply can’t carry the level of quality that our suppliers do. Sure, you’ll save a little bit of money upfront, but when water finds its way into your walls or your subfloor, you definitely won’t be saving money anymore. Its so much easier to just do things the right way with the right materials the first time. If you don’t, you’ll wish you did.

We have worked to deliver a consistent customer experience that exceeds your expectations. That starts by simply caring about you as a person. We listen to your vision, your wants and needs. Our production managers are responsive communicators that work hard to earn your trust by treating you with uncommon courtesy and do the right thing from day one of the project to the final site walk.

We respect you, your family, and your home. We show that respect through details that other contractors call “the little things”. They’re a big deal to us because they’re a big deal to you.

Here are some examples: we put down ram board on hard floors and roll out plastic on carpets for protection, we tape masking plastic over all of your spaces and anything that might get dusty during the project, we put in zipper doors that are closed during work but don’t close your doors off completely during the project, we even put rags over your vents so dust doesn’t get into your HVAC system. We care a great deal that your experience is as smooth as it can possibly be.

1. The Appointment
The process begins when you request an estimate here on our website or by giving us a call (719-749-1788). After that, Chelsea or Sheila will help find a time for your initial appointment. Your estimator, Griff or Bryan, will meet you to collect the information they need to get you a good accurate estimate. We’ll start by asking you about your vision for your bathroom, taking a look, taking some measurements, and discussing some different options and considerations. Don’t worry, we never charge for estimates.

It’s helpful if you have an idea of what you have in mind. But if you don’t, that’s okay. We can help you create a space that works for you. Depending on the scope of your project, the appointment should take between one to two hours. If something comes up and you need to reschedule, no problem, just give us a call.

2. Initial Estimate
Following your appointment, your estimator will follow up with your initial estimate within 3 business days. They’ll walk you through your estimate and answer any questions that you have.

We want you to know upfront that we aren’t the cheapest remodeler in townand with good reason. As you can imagine, there are a lot of ways to cut corners on a remodel. We choose not to cut corners. Some of the most significant factors that contribute to our costs are: 1. quality materials and 2. we hire master craftsmen and pay them a fair wage.

3. Confirmation
Once you’re ready to get started, you’ll confirm that you agree to the estimate with an initial deposit.

4. Material Selection
We’ll find a time to sit down in our showroom (Vickers and Academy) and decide which materials will make up your dream bathroom. We’ll get those ordered promptly. Depending on the availability of your chosen materials, delivery could take days but sometimes it takes weeks.

5. Subcontractor Walk
We’ll have our electrician, plumber, and our HVAC guy come out to take a look at the project and take some measurements so they can provide us with bids on their materials and labor.

6. Final Estimate
The final estimate typically isn’t too different from the initial estimate. But occasionally, one of our subs lets us know that a project will cost more than normal due to unique circumstances and that can affect the final estimate.

Once we present you with the final estimate, we guarantee that your project will not exceed the estimated amount unless you decide that you want to change the scope of work. This includes unforeseen circumstances. We like to say that we eat unforeseen circumstances for breakfast. But it doesn’t happen all that often because we’re very good a preventing unforeseen circumstances during your initial appointment. Nobody else offers to eat unforeseen circumstances this (at least that we know of).

7. Materials Arrive
The materials for your remodel are delivered to your house. We usually will keep them in the garage, but we can put them wherever is most convenient for you just as long as they’re out of the way so we can get started quickly.

8. Site Walk
Once materials have arrived, we’ll schedule a site walk with your production manager, it’ll be Ben or Bunt (fun fact: both men are veterans). Your production manager is the guy who will lead the project from here on out. At the site walk, he’ll provide you with a schedule for the project including a deadline. If something unexpected comes up and we miss the deadline, we’ll knock a percentage off of the project to try to make it right. That said, we don’t miss deadline except in very rare situations.

9. Work Starts
Your production manager will be updating you daily. For efficiency, please direct all questions you have to your production manager and he’ll be sure to take good care of you.

10. Final Site Walk

After the work is complete, your production manager will do one last site walk with you to make sure everything looks good to you. If we need to touch something up we’ll make sure we get it done as soon as possible. We even send in a professional cleaning service when we’re done. Her name is Tess, she’s wonderful.

We hope your new bathroom inspires you to start each day with purpose, helps you unwind when its done, and ultimately allows you to enjoy life a little bit more.

We’ve been in construction for a long time. Over the years, we’ve found that we expects a project to go 100% perfectly, there is a good chance we’re going to be disappointed.

As Murphy’s Law said, “anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” Remodeling involves many moving pieces. We depend on people that aren’t a part of our team to get the job done right, namely our suppliers and subcontractors. We do everything within our power to make your remodeling process as painless as it can be, but we’ve found it’s best to expect things to be slightly interrupted during your remodel. Here’s a list of things that can (and sometimes do) go wrong during a remodel project:

  • Materials can arrive damaged and/or the wrong materials arrive
  • Delays can happen due to weather, material delivery, or scheduling conflicts with subs
  • Unknown obstacles that simply could not be foreseen before starting work

Here’s what you can expect from us, we will…

  • plan and prepare to avoid mistakes
  • take responsibility for our mistakes and attempt to rectify them as quickly as possible
  • strive to keep your home as clean as possible
  • always be nothing but courteous and respectful
  • stand behind our 5-Year materials and labor warranty

We will do everything we can to deliver a seamless remodeling experience – you have our word.

We all know that real estate is the best investment you can make. The thought process is that over time, a home almost always appreciates in value. But its only a good investment if you can sell high. What separates your house from other similar houses in Colorado Springs? Are you sure that your house will sell quickly? Ask any real estate agent and they’ll tell you what closes the deal between two similar properties: the master bathroom. Not to throw shade on the guest bathrooms, those are important too, especially for hosting company.

But what people don’t know, is that it takes time to come out ahead on a remodeling project. Next time, you watch an episode of Fixer Upper (one of our favorite shows) notice how they flip the whole house and always end up with substantial instant equity. Instant equity may be a reality for a flip in Waco, but its very, very rare for a remodel in here in the Springs.

However, if you’re planning on being in your home for another 3-5 years, you’ll almost certainly come out ahead when you go to market with a beautiful new bathroom. Not to mention that you get to actually enjoy having a new bathroom for another 3-5 years. The mistake that people make is that they wait until right before they go to market to remodel and end up flushing money down the toilet.

Pro Tip: another huge factor of selling a home that very few people think about is a clean inspection report. A clean inspection report makes people feel differently about your house compared to others they’re considering. A lot of folks tend to put off getting those little fixes done because they’re not a high priority. But those little problems only get worse with time. Its best to knock those little fixes out before they become big problems.

We aren’t ONLY a remodeling contractor, we also offer a handyman services as well as roof repair and replacement. So click one of the ‘Request an Estimate’ buttons to start knocking out those little things and put yourself in position to be the only house with a clean inspection report.

Have the bathroom you want, not the one you’re stuck with.

There are lots of creative options and features when it comes to bathroom remodeling in Colorado Springs. In addition to simply updating to new quality materials, colors, and fixtures, here are a few upgrades that we are able to provide:

Shower Pan: We can get rid of the old fiberglass shower pan and build a custom size tile basin (mud pan). Great for unique spaces and adding making your shower feel rich.

Rain Shower Head: We can install an additional shower head in the ceiling.

Tile Accents: Adding stripes of accent colors or glass tiles in between your ceramic or porcelain is a great way to make your bathroom go from awesome to stunning.

Radiant Heat: Hate those cold Colorado Springs winters that make your bathroom floor freezing at night? Consider putting in a radiant heated tile floor. We can even install them in the shower under a mud pan!

Frameless Glass: New tile showers look great when they are capped off with a frameless glass door. This is an elegant way to keep the water contained (rather than a curtain or cheap framed door).

For Mr. Webster, success is a favorable or desired outcome. For us, success is you being pleased with the end result and overall experience. To us, a new bathroom can change how youfeelat the start of the day, or when host your family and friends (for a guest bathroom), or relax at the end of the day. We believe that our homes should be a place of peace and solitude. In that way, our work has the potential to change lives. We take great pride in that.
